We have now got our fully PUWER compliant 4×4 awareness courses approved by Lantra-Awards, which means that our most popular course now has external verification from the UK’s most well recognised 4×4 training body.
Lantra-Awards 4×4 Awareness Training
Until now, Lantra-Awards courses have focussed purely on off-road driving, which has ignored the highest risk area for 4x4s. With our new 4×4 familiarisation course we have addressed all of the issues likely to be faced by most users of 4x4s within companies:
- Familiarisation with transmissions and fitted equipment
- Awareness of risks associated with 4×4 vehicles
- Dealing with floods
- Preparation for winter
- Defensive driving on-road, with a focus on winter and adverse weather driving
- Light off-road use, aimed at drivers who stick to maintained tracks or level ground
- Loss of traction, braking and steering
We will as always tailor the training to the client and candidates’ requirements, but this is a structured course designed to ensure that your company and your drivers understand their obligations, recognise the risks associated with driving heavy vehicles in challenging conditions and are able to deal with every day situations safely and effectively.
Run from any of our Lantra-Awards approved off-road training venues, we can train up to three candidates per course. If you have a suitable venue, we may be able to provide this in the workplace.
If you have specialists within your employees who will be required to undertake more demanding off-road driving, this familiarisation course can provide an entry route onto the 1 day Professional Off-Road Driving (Experienced Operator) course. Effectively, this provides a full on and off-road solution over the two days that previously would have only covered off-road driving.
